CS 105 -
Survey of Computer Science
Spring 2007 – World Wide Web
Project
20 points
Out: February 9, 2007
Due:
February 19, 2007
This project is create a simple webpage with file name cs105.html in your UE webspace. This webpage must be created by writing the HTML file via a text editor. Pages created using webpage authoring software, including but not limited to MS FrontPage, MS Word, and Dreamweaver, are not allowed and will receive a score of 0.
Your webpage must contain all of the following items to receive full credit:
A title in the head part of the page
A heading for each section of the body of the page of which there is at least one
A paragraph introducing yourself by giving your name, major, a few of your favorite things, and what you hoped to learn by taking CS 105.
An image, either a photo or a graphic, that is stored in your webspace
Links to at least two off-campus websites
An ordered list, i.e. a numbered list
An unordered list, i.e., a bulleted list
A table of at least three columns and three rows
Text that is in bold and text that is in italics
These items may be combined. For example, links to your favorite websites might be part of your introduction paragraph as well as the text that is in bold and italics. Another example might be a recipe for a dish where the ingredients are in an unordered list and the directions are an ordered list with an image of the dish as an illustration. Although creativity will not be part of the grade for this project, it would be nice if the page had some theme tying the items on it together. The page may have more items than just the required ones.
Any quotes, images, or data taken from outside sources must be properly cited. (I.e., say who is the originator and where the item came from.) And just to be safe, it must be said that pages may not contain or link to any profanity, obscenity, or illegal activities, or that which is purposefully inflammatory. Pages containing such will receive a score of 0.
Some class time on Monday, February 12, and Wednesday, February 14, will be given for working on this project. The projects will be graded on Monday, February 19 at 4:30pm unless the instructor is notified that the project submission will be late.
